What is MYT?
MYT (Make Your Transition) is an artist development platform for electronic music producers who are serious about their craft.
We exist for one kind of person: the producer who wants to build a real career making music that matters — not someone chasing streams, not someone building a personal brand, not someone who wants to be an "influencer DJ." Someone who wants to make music that's unmistakably theirs, release it on labels they respect, and build something that lasts.
If that's you, you're in the right place.
The Philosophy
We believe in the True Artist.
Not a content creator. Not a social media presence with a music hobby. A True Artist is someone who makes music from the heart, with intention — someone who has something to say and the craft to say it. Someone who is building a sound, not chasing a trend.
The artists we look up to — Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Guy J, Patrice Baumel — didn't build careers by gaming algorithms. They built them by being brilliant, by being consistent, and by making music that connected with people on a deep level. That's the standard. That's the long game. That's what MYT is about.
This matters because the music industry will try to pull you in the wrong direction. It will reward surface-level content over substance, virality over artistry, quantity over quality. We are here to help you resist that pull. To stay focused on what you're actually here to do: make music that is recognisably yours, put it in front of the right ears, and build a career you can be proud of — one that looks nothing like chasing a moment, and everything like building a legacy.
Paul James Nolan
Who built MYT — and why.
"My name is Paul James Nolan. I've spent 25 years inside electronic music — not observing it, not writing about it, but living it. I've played records and worked across the globe, including for legendary promotions like Cream. I've worked alongside Sasha, JunkieXL, Arthur Baker, and The Martinez Brothers. I've spent 17 years teaching and coaching producers at every level.
I built MYT because I kept seeing the same thing: genuinely talented producers stuck. Not because they lacked ability. Because they lacked direction, honest feedback, and access to the kind of knowledge that only comes from being inside the industry. I wanted to close that gap.
What makes MYT different from most music education is this: I'm not a retired artist who used to make music and now teaches it. I'm still actively working as an artist — composing, releasing, playing. Three days a week, I focus on my own music career. Two days a week, I work with you. That's intentional. The coaching I give you comes from someone who is still in the thick of it — still navigating the same challenges, still making things, still growing. I coach from the inside, not from the outside looking in.
Massano — now one of the world's most respected names in melodic techno, releasing on Afterlife and Drumcode — started his journey working with me before he had an Instagram account. Sam Rose came to my studio in Liverpool and we worked on the fundamentals: arrangement, sound design, mixing. Those sessions led to the writing of "The Feeling" — the track that launched his career. That's not a coincidence. That's what happens when raw talent meets serious, structured development.
Massano is the most high-profile name, but the pattern repeats. Four Candles — playing Bedrock, supporting John Digweed, performing at Fabric Room 1. Cassine — BBC Radio 1, Ushuaia. Gareth Cole — featured on John Digweed's Transitions. Moritz — releasing on Innervisions, Diynamic, Fabric Room 1.
None of these artists got there by accident. They got there by doing the work, having the right guidance, and refusing to cut corners.
That's what I built MYT to provide."

The Community
The right people make all the difference.
One of the things I'm most proud of about MYT is the culture we've built. This is not a Discord server full of beginners asking basic questions and producers posting their latest track hoping for claps. This is a community of serious, driven artists who are all working toward the same standard — who push each other forward, who give honest feedback, who share the same reference points and the same ambitions.
When you join MYT, you join that community. You're surrounded by people who take this as seriously as you do. That's rare. It matters more than most people realise.
The standard here is high because it has to be. The music we make should be good enough to stand alongside the music we love. That's the only bar worth setting.
Emergent Properties
The record label.
Emergent Properties is the record label I run alongside MYT. It's not a vanity project — it's an extension of the same mission. The label exists to release music that reflects the True Artist ethos: music made with intention, music that has a point of view, music that doesn't chase trends.
For the right MYT artists, Emergent Properties is a natural next step. It's part of the ecosystem we're building — one where serious artists can develop, release, and grow under the same roof.
If you've read this far, you probably already know whether MYT is for you.
The question is whether you're ready to stop doing this alone.
